Bridgestone Group logo

Bridgestone was founded in 1931 in Kurume, Japan, by Shojiro Ishibashi. The brand name is an English translation of its founder's surname. Its international expansion accelerated in particular when Firestone joined the group in 1988.

The group makes tires for a range of uses, from passenger cars to commercial vehicles. For a car, choosing a model starts with the dimensions specified by the vehicle manufacturer, followed by the season and your usual journeys: city streets, highways or more demanding roads.

Comparing two Bridgestone tires in the same size helps you look beyond the brand name. The European tire label provides information on wet grip, rolling resistance and external noise; the load and speed ratings must also be suitable for the vehicle.
